The Cornelia Street Café Hosts Jim Black Trio, 6/24

On June 24th, the Cornelia Street Café (29 Cornelia St.) hosts Jim Black Trio at 8:30 PM as well as a spoken word French Night earlier in the evening at 6:00 PM. Jim Black brings a new trio to Cornelia Street, performing original compositions by the group inspired by jazz music from 1960 to 1990. Along with Black on drums and cymbals, Chris Speed plays the saxophone and clarinet with Elias on piano. More information can be found at www.jimblack.com.

French Nigh is bilingual and cross cultural. Hosted by Lucinda Karter, the hour includes contemporary and classic French literature, in translation and in the original. The works are "Nous Gagnerons la Coupe du Monde 2010" by Alain Mabanckou, "King Kong Theory" by Virginie Despentes, and "Journal de Gand" by Jean Rolin.
