Metropolitan Opera leading lady Maureen O'Flynn, makes her Indianapolis cabaret debut, featuring classics by Kern, Porter, Sondheim, and Weill.
According to press notes, Ms. O'Flynn is regarded as one of the finest interpreters of Gilda in Rigoletto, performing the role with the Metropolitan Opera under the baton of Plácido Domingo and debuted with Dallas Opera, winning the company's Callas Award as "Outstanding New Artist of the Year." Over the past few seasons, noted engagements included Juliette in Roméo et Juliette at the Metropolitan Opera; Blue Fairy in the premiere of Pinocchio with the Minnesota Opera; Pat Nixon in Nixon in China with Cincinnati Opera; and Mimi in La Bohème with the Minnesota Orchestra and the Indianapolis Opera.
Ms. O'Flynn performed Guinevere in Camelot with the Berkshires Theatre Festival, as well as Eliza in My Fair Lady. Other theatre credits include the roles of Julie in Carousel, Jenny in Company and Meg in Damn Yankees. Next, she returns to the Metropolitan Opera for La Bohème and performs Violetta in La Traviata at the Indianapolis Opera.
