Tanya O'Debra Named Miss Fag Hag 2010

Tanya O'Debra "Miss Bowery," has been crowned Miss Fag Hag 2010! The Second Annual Miss Fag Hag Pageant, a benefit for The Hetrick-Martin Institute, The Home of the Harvey Milk School was held at Comix last night, May 2nd.

Hosted by Cabaret/Comedy duo Mel and El, the show featured 10 girls competing, pageant style, in attempt to win the coveted title "Miss Fag Hag". The categories were Evening Wear, Talent, Question & Answer, The Skinnygirl Margarita Online Video Challenge, Producer Interview, and Presenting Your Gay in a Swimsuit. The swimsuit included themes like Lillith Fair, Coppertone Baby and Titanic, where Elyse Beye, "Miss Union Square's" gay counter part, Steve Parmenter was dressed in Leo DeCaprio garb and stripped to tiny skibbies to howls from the skin-hungry crowd. O'Debra was also the winner of the Skinnygirl Margarita Online Video Challenge and received a gift pack from Bethenny Frankel, including a bottle of Skinnygirl Margarita and her books, "Skinnygirl Dish" and "Naturally Thin!"

Celebrity judges included Hedwig and the Angry Inch creator John Cameron Mitchell, the Marble Faun of Grey Gardens Jerry Torre, the Village Voice's Michael Musto and surprise last-minute addition, Sordid Lives and Will and Grace funnyman, Leslie Jordan.

Second Runner up was "Miss Bushwick," Crystal Clements. 1st Runner up was "Miss Lower East," Jillian Snow Harris, who competed last year. It was tough competition with Jillian's rousing Liza impression that made a huge splash in the first pageant. Judge, Michael Musto noted "You are the first biological female to do Liza... including Liza."

Performers and presenters on-hand were Broadway's Darius de Haas, singing the opening number "Dreamgirls, with Lexi Lawson (Rent) and Rebecca Covington (Mamma Mia!)." BBC darling and MNN star, Margarita Pracatan, Singer/Songwriter, Charlene Lite, the Spangles Dance Company, Sahara Davenport from RuPaul's Drag Race, publishing powerhouse, Judith Regan, VH1 Tough Love's Abiola Abrams, Jon Wolfe Nelson from The L Word, Stephen Wallem from Nurse Jackie, Broadway's Daniel Robinson, Kate McKinnon from Logo's Big Gay Sketch Show, MTV's Legally Blonde: The Search for the Next Elle Woods winner Bailey Hanks, Billy Eichner writer for Logo's Big Gay Sketch Show, Miss Fag Hag 2009 Heather Shields and a video message from a pregnant Bethenny Frankel, who said "No make up today guys: Pregnancy Card"

The sold-out show was presented by Adolpho Blaire, Paul Case and Shawn Hollenbach, directed by Adolpho Blaire and created by Shawn Hollenbach.
