Join Jonathan Lee, Justin Anthony Long, Joanna Burns, a small village of Broadway stars and amazing guest performers for a night of fun musical comedy. With the help of their friends, the writer/performer trio will perform and present songs from their original new musical, Welcome to Shoofly (NYMF Next Link Finalist), their hit musical web-series, City of Dreams (New York Times, USA Today, Playbill.com, BroadwayWorld.com) and some brand-spankin' new original comedy tunes.
Special guest performances by Broadway's Arielle Jacobs (In the Heights, Wicked), Matthew Shingledecker (Wicked, West Side Story), Lavon Fisher-Wilson (Newsies, New York Spring Spectacular), Autumn Hurlbert (Legally Blonde, NBC's The Sound of Music), Dana Costello (Finding Neverland), Jeigh Madjus (Here Lies Love) and more to be announced. The Opposite of Cool will have direction by Lee & Long, musical direction by Andrew Wheeler and feature additional music by Amanda Duncan.
This one night only event plays 54 Below (254 West 54th Street) on Monday, July 6th at 9:30pm. Doors will open at 8:45pm. There is a $25-35 cover charge and $25 food and beverage minimum. Lee, Long & Burns started writing together back in 2012 when they penned original songs for City of Dreams. The Opposite of Cool is their NYC debut concert. Burns' solo album, The Green Year, is available on iTunes. Lee & Long wrote concept, book and lyrics for Cookie Soirée (2014 Audience Choice Award for Best Musical at Sound Bites) and the short film, Take Out (Top 10 Asian American Film Lab 72-Hour Shootout).
