The Strand Theater Company presents a wonderful evening of jazz and blues performed by Artistic Director, Rain Pryor. A multi-talented actress, director, writer, and performer, Rain Pryor is joined by Musical Director Keith Killgo for an evening of jazz and blues selections from her one-woman show, the Pryor Experience. Pryor has toured sold out shows in Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Australia, the U.K., and Ireland. Killgo, a talented pianist, drummer and vocalist, is also a founding member of the jazz-fusion group, the Blackbyrds.

A portion of the evening’s proceeds will support the Strand Theater’s ability to continue bringing powerful theatrical performances to thousands of Baltimore-area patrons.

The fundraiser will take place on Monday, October 1, 7:00 pm at Germano’s Trattoria located at 300 South High St., Baltimore (Little Italy.) Tickets are $20, plus $15 food/drink minimum and may be purchased at www.strand-theater.org.

Rain Pryor is a director, stand-up comedienne, dynamic speaker, acting teacher, award-winning actress, singer, two-time award-nominated author, mother, and wife. Her autobiographical solo show, FRIED CHICKEN AND LATKES, is an NAACP-Award winner and DC Black Theatre Festival Award nominee. It has earned rave reviews from the US to the UK and is currently in an open-ended run Off Broadway. Pryor made her television debut in 1989 as a regular on the hit ABC series, Head of the Class. She currently resides in Baltimore, where she started the non-profit Theatre Works with teaching artist Joan Weber.

The Strand Theater Company champions challenging and provocative theater that especially celebrates women’s diverse voices and perspectives while bringing together the creative talents of both women and men as artists, technicians, and administrators. We invite patrons to experience some of the region’s best contemporary and reinterpreted works for the stage in our intimate midtown theater.

In August 2011, the Strand was honored as one of Baltimore magazine’s “Top 5 Baltimore Theaters,” along with CENTERSTAGE, Everyman, the Hippodrome, and Single Carrot. To learn more about the Strand Theater Company, visit strand-theater.org.

Since 2008, Germano’s, one of Little Italy’s best restaurants, has built a reputation for outstanding music and cabaret performances by artists from around the world, encompassing popular song, jazz, classical music, opera, and theater.
