Based on actor and writer Lynne Marie Rosenberg's Tumblr, Cast & Loose is "your daily dose of show business misogyny, racism and general absurdity." The evening regales the audience of crazy casting notices - a hilarious mix of stereotypes, pigeon-holing and requests for tasteful, non-union nudity, re-enacted by our special guests: Lauren Blumenfeld (The Assembled Parties), Emilio Delgado (Sesame Street), Amber Gray (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812), Nick Westrate (Casa Valentina) and Ching Valdes-Aran (Sex and The City Movie)Tuesday, October 28 at 7:30PM

Alan Doyle always loved the spotlight. Although he was a natural leader, there was no place for a singer or guitar player in the Petty Harbour, NL school band, so he learned drums, all the better to make the maximum impact. His performing skills were honed as a solo artist in the city's pubs, standing on wee stages, belting out folk songs and the classic rock for rowdy patrons. In 1993, he joined forces with fellow pub warriors Sean McCann, Bob Hallett, and Darrell Power, and together they started Great Big Sea, where they fused Newfoundland traditional music with their own pop sensibilities. Two decades later, GBS continues to astonish crowds around the world with their energy, musical skill and an ingrained inability to take themselves too seriously. Their nine albums and two DVD releases have been declared Gold or Platinum.

PELIROJA with SPECIAL GUEST DJ BONGOHEAD
Wednesday, October 29 at 7:30PM
$12 Adv / $15 Door
Producer and guitarist Jacob Plasse united some of his oldest friends - players from the Daptones, Pedrito Martinez Group and Los Hacheros - to form Peliroja, a New York collective inspired by the sounds of Ethiopia, Dominican Republic, Cuba and the Congo. Their debut album Injusticia was released on August 19th on Chulo Records. "Some of the musicians in Peliroja and I would meet up after school on Jane Street in the West Village, at a stoop with some Old English, a spliff and a tape deck," says Plasse, "We were gangly, awkward 15 year-olds and not cool by any means. I'm not sure how we became obsessed with obscure 70s funk and Afrobeat music, but that's what we would listen to: The 3 Sounds, Lyn Collins, Africa 70."
Produced and co-written by Plasse, Injusticia's groove is deep, driven by the Daptones' rhythm section - drummer Homer Steinweiss and bassist Nick Movshon - play off the polyrhythms of Carlos Padron's timbales and Jhair Salas' congas, forming a new fusion of old sounds. Jainardo Batista's vocals soar over these rhythms, propelled by Mike Eckroth's mercurial arrangements.
