Why is Steven Blier smiling so? Because next Monday night he's taking us all out for A Night at the Operetta, the latest installment of Sing for Your Supper at Henry's, tonight, April 29 at 10 p.m.
Join Steve and a stellar cast of singers as they offer music ranging from Lehár to Offenbach to Sondheim--romance, comedy, and some of the loveliest tunes ever written for the human voice. A Night at the Operetta was first done at Tully Hall on January 16 of this year as part of the New York Festival of Song's collaboration with the Juilliard School. Steven and I have started a mini-tradition of bringing excerpts from the NYFOS@Juilliard shows to the SFYS audience in late April. This year's program will feature highlights from English, French, Viennese, Spanish, and American operettas -- delightful popular theater works filled with love duets, wit, and old-fashioned vaudeville turns. And Steve has assembled a powerhouse group of singers -- some familiar to SFYS audiences, some making their first appearance at Henry's.Videos
