Julia Murney Set to Host The New Voices Concert at the Duplex, 1/25

Julia Murney will replace previously announced host Stephanie J. Block at the January 25th Monday Nights, New Voices concert at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre.

The evening, marking the start of the series seventh season, will celebrate the work of composer Steve Marzullo. Among those currently scheduled to perform are Carolyn Cole, Dana Musgrove, Ashley Pankow, Javier Ignacio and Chris Pinnella. The concert will offer selections from Marzullo's songbook. The composer will be on hand to accompany the performers at the concert.

Show time is 7 PM.

Paul Staroba will be the evening's musical director.
The ‘Monday Nights, New Voices' series was founded by composer Scott Alan to "showcase some of today's brightest new talent in New York. The New Voices series gives a platform for those struggling to be heard to get the opportunity to work alongside Broadway talent and some of today's most exciting theatre composers and lyricists of our generation."

Julia Murney last appeared on Broadway as Elphaba in Wicked after playing the role on the national tour for which she received an Acclaim Award. Other New York credits include Lennon, Andrew Lippa's The Wild Party (Drama Desk nomination), The Vagina Monologues, A Class Act, Saved, Crimes of the Heart, First Lady Suite, and Time and Again (Lucille Lortel nomination). Among her television credits are 30 Rock, Sex and the City, Ed, NYPD Blue, all three Law and Orders and "about a gazillion voiceovers." A Syracuse University graduate, her recordings include the original cast albums of The Wild Party and A Class Act, the Grammy nominated Actor's Fund Benefit of Hair and her first solo album, I'm Not Waiting which is available on Sh-K-Boom records.

Steve Marzullo - New York Credits include the music direction for Once On This Island. Associate Conductor for Mamma Mia, Seussical, Grease (1st revival), Saturday Night, Floyd Collins and A Little Night Music (E.L.T.) Pianist/Keyboards for Ragtime, Sweeney Todd (1st revival), Smile, Olympus On My Mind, as well as the concert versions of Dreamgirls, Funny Girl, Chess, On the Twentieth Century and Company (original cast). Films: Pianist for Disney's Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin, Fox's Anastasia. Regional/Tours: Music Direction for I Do, I Do (Cape Playhouse), Cinderella (St. Louis MUNY), Tell Me On a Sunday (Kennedy Center, starring Alice Ripley), Paper Moon (Paper Mill Playhouse), Nude, Nude, Totally Nude (Canon Theater, starring AndRea Martin). Composer credits include: Songs From an Unmade Bed, The Audience and for Audra McDonald: "Burning the Sauce" (Seven Deadly Sins), "I Hid My Love" (Nonesuch Records) and "Some Days" (Donmar Warehouse Video) His songs have also been recorded on solo albums of Stephanie J. Block, Andrea Burns and Rebecca Luker. Training: Manhattan School of Music.
