The Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs is proud to announce the 2nd Annual "MAC presents THEY WRITE THE SONGS." The show will be held Sunday, November 17th at 4pm at the Engelman Recital Hall at the Baruch Performing Arts Center (Lexington Avenue at 25th Street).
This annual show presents the work of selected songwriters, highlighting both those who are well-established, and those who are on the rise and creating great new work. Songs written by these outstanding songwriters will be performed throughout the show by singers who have previously either won or been nominated for MAC Awards, or in some cases, by the songwriters themselves.
The songwriters selected for this year's show are Lynn Ahrens & Stephen Flaherty, Marcy Heisler & Zina Goldrich, Joe Iconis, Bobby Cronin, Sam Carner & Derek Gregor, Lois Morton, and Andrew Sotomayor.
The host for the evening will be Grammy award winning songwriter Julie Gold. Steven Ray Watkins will be the musical director. Performers will be announced shortly.
In addition, at this show MAC will announce this year's recipients of the two annual songwriting awards presented by MAC each year - the Dottie Burman award, and the John Wallowitch award. Songs written by these recipients will also be performed at the show.
The event will culminate with an interview of songwriters Lynn Ahrens & Stephen Flaherty conducted by host Julie Gold, and a performance of several songs written by this Tony Award, Drama Desk Award and Olivier Award winning songwriting team.
Tickets are $20 in advance, $30 day of show. There will be a reception at the theater immediately following the performance for all ticket holders, songwriters and performers at no additional charge.
