Shana Farr, who made her debut at Feinstein's last December with her show "Pure Imagination," returns tonight and tomorrow (August 10 and 11) at 8:30 PM to celebrate the early career of Julie Andrews in her brand new show "Whistling Away The Dark," which celebrates Julie Andrews' early life and career.

In creating her new show, Shana gives personal interpretations to many of the famous - and some lesser known -- songs associated with Ms. Andrews' career. The show includes classic songs by Rodgers & Hammerstein, Lerner & Loewe, Henry Mancini, Noel Coward and other notable composers and lyricists, as well as the operatic aria - ‘The Polonaise' from "Mignon."

Guided by director Eric Michael Gillett, an award-winning cabaret director and performer, and music director Fred Barton, a Tony and Emmy award-winning arranger and composer, Shana has created a highly entertaining show that captures the essence of one of her favorite performers and how these musical numbers have provided inspiration to her as she pursues her own dreams. Shana steps into her Feinstein's performances direct from her debut last week with the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera where she played the role of Princess Margaret in "The Student Prince" during the first week of August.

Shana has been seen at City Center with the New YorK Gilbert & Sullivan Players performing leading roles in "The Yeomen of the Guard" (Elsie Maynard) and the title role in Princess Ida. Her Off Broadway credits include "The Merry Widow" (title role), "The Music Man" (Marian Paroo), "Oklahoma!" (Laurie Williams), and "The Pirates of Penzance" (Mabel). Her regional/concert credits include "The Student Prince" (Kathie), "Madame Butterfly" (Kate Pinkerton), soloist with The South Shore Symphony and soloist with the Missouri Symphony Orchestra, among others.

During the past year, she has appeared in cabaret venues such as The Laurie Beechman Theatre (NYC), The Kranzberg Arts Center (St. Louis), the Tudor City Greens Concert Series (NYC), and several others. Recently she was voted top prize at the 1st Annual Sopranos Vocal Competition at the Ninth Avenue International Food Festival which kicks off New York City's summer festivities. On television, Shana has appeared on "The Guiding Light" and guest hosted jewelry segments on shopping channels all over the world. When she is not busy performing, Shana puts on her entrepreneurial hat to manage her own line of silver and gemstone jewelry (Shana Farr Designs). She learned the art of fine jewelry design while employed for several years at the luxury jeweler Harry Winston, after which she worked with a high-end, couture fashion designer, increasing her knowledge of the fashion world. Her designs have also been influenced by her global travels. To see her collections online, visit www.ShanaFarrDesigns.com.
