Shakina Nayfack, Founding Artistic Director of Musical Theatre Factory and transgender spokesperson, will be the featured special guest artist in Big Thunder Productions' #YesAllWomen Raise Your Voice concert being presented at The Tank @ 46 on Friday November 21 at 9:30PM. Ms. Shakina will be performing a song by Andrew David Sotomayor, inspired by the video of the attacks on transgendered women in the Atlanta MARTA train in July of 2014. This song was especially commissioned for the #YesAllWomen Raise Your Voice concert in an effort to include the plight of ALL women in the current American culture of misogyny. Ms. Shakina's successful crowdsourcing effort towards her gender confirmation surgery, KickStartHer, has been featured on HuffPost and NYDaily News, The Gothamist, and Vice Magazine. Her highly-praised cabaret show exploring the journey of her transition, One Woman Show, ran to sold-out houses at 54 Below, Joe's Pub, and the Barrington Stage Company. Shakina, a renowned Butoh teacher holding an MFA in Experimental Choreography and a PhD in Critical Dance Studies, is the artistic director of the Musical Theatre Factory and a popular director for new works of theatre around the country.

Big Thunder's #YesAllWomen Raise Your Voice concert is a presentation of original songs that address the many complicated sides of the gender equality movement through the work of contemporary NYC composers and songs written specifically for the show. Contributing musically to this new concert project are a vibrant group of composers, with music direction by Julianne B. Merrill. The concert was also presented in San Francisco on Nov. 9 at the Costume Shop at ACT, in a joint venture with Bay Area stars and ACT MFA students, where Oakland singer-songwriter Ms. Diana Regan was the featured guest. The #YesAllWomen Raise Your Voice concert is traveling with its creator and director, Dana Aber, into multiple cities to create a unified theatrical #YesAllWomen message.

The Tank is located at 151 West 46th Street. The concert begins at 9:30 PM, doors open at 9 PM. $15 tickets are available online, with limited door tickets available, reservations recommended. Ticket information available through http://www.thetanknyc.org. Proceeds from the concert will help fund Big Thunder's next presentations of the #YesAllWomen RaiseYourVoice concert around the country.
