Shaina Taub, raised in the green mountains of Vermont, is a New York-based performer and songwriter. She was Ars Nova's 2012 Composer-in-Residence, a recipient of the 2014 Jonathan Larson Grant, and her debut album, What Otters Do, was featured on NPR/WNYC's Best of 2011 list. She released an EP with her trio, with whom she plays regularly in New York. She has created songs for Walt Disney Imagineering, and recently signed a publishing deal with Ghostlight / Sh-k-Boom Records and Razor & Tie, as the first artist in their new joint venture to represent songwriters that fuse theatrical and pop music. She will make her Lincoln Center concert debut in their American Songbook series this spring.

As a performer, Shaina has traveled the world in her multi-faceted capacities as a vocalist, actor and musician. She was Karen O's (of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs) vocal standby and back-up singer in her psycho-opera, Stop the Virgens at St. Ann's Warehouse and the Sydney Opera House, and has appeared on stages Abu Dhabi to Nashville, and venues including the Beacon Theater, Madison Square Garden and the Kennedy Center. She was nominated for a Lucille Lortel Award for her portrayal of Princess Mary in the critically-acclaimed electropop opera, Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, and performed and arranged the songs of Tom Waits in American Repertory Theater's production of Shakespeare's The Tempest, directed by Teller, of Penn & Teller fame. She recently starred in Old Hats with Bill Irwin and David Shiner, directed by Tina Landau at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, which featured her original songs.

A fellow of the MacDowell Colony, the Yaddo Colony, the Sundance Institute and the Johnny Mercer Songwriter's Project, a recent TEDx conference speaker, and a featured artist in Gc Watches new ad campaign, Shaina served on the music theatre faculty at Pace University, and is a University Scholar alumnus of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.
