Before the art of song was divided into narrow stylistic slices, before there was Jazz or Pop or Rock, there was Nightclub Singing. Like Sammy Davis, Jr, Ethel Water and Mel Tormé before him, Julian Fleisher mixes masterful interpretations of a wide range of popular songs with kick-ass showmanship and a generously endowed band that -- as the Washington Post put it -- "blew the roof off of Joe's Pub." Guests include Justin Vivian Bond, Kenny Mellman, Tonya Pinkins, Joe Shane, Kristen Sieh, Stew, The Persuasions and more

Originally commissioned as part of The Joe's Pub 2013 New York Voices series, ROCK BOTTOM will have a full theatrical run as part of The Public's 2014-15 season. Written by the ferociously talented Bridget Everett with Tony Award-winning songwriting duo Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz and Matt Ray, ROCK BOTTOM is the entertainer's first major production since her 2007 musical At Least It's Pink. ROCK BOTTOM is what happens when you're too passionate to give up, and too big to fail. In it, Everett, who The New York Times has called a "pure id on the rampage," barrels through life tip-toeing toward disaster, wine bottle by wine bottle and man by man. However, instead of succumbing to a chardonnay-induced stupor, Everett embraces a series of revelations that lead her and her voice of an angel to redemption. ROCK BOTTOM features new original songs written with Shaiman, Wittman, Ray and Horovitz, as well as familiar favorites heard in Everett's monthly sold-out showcase with her band The Tender Moments at Joe's Pub.

"Going into a room and drifting out of a room because there was no real purpose in going in, nor any more purpose in going back out again. That was the drift. The drift was everything that you did without having a reason. But where was a reason for anything at all. Oh, you could invent a reason, and some were plausible. Some were plausible enough for being accepted the way a polite excuse is accepted for convenience or social policy. But there had been nothing." -from Tennessee Williams's novella The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone
In The Drift, Justin Vivian Bond creates a new, free associative, collage of spoken word and song inspired by the story of Karen Stone, a retired actress who drifts from one space to another -either in her mind, in couture or in bed.EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH WITH CATIE LAZARUS

Highline Chamber Ensemble is a conductor-less string ensemble comprised of classically-trained musicians who believe in the power of music to bring people together. SLIVER OF A FULL MOON
Sunday, September 21 at 7:00PM
$12
Sliver of a Full Moon is a portrayal of resistance, restoration and celebration. This powerful new play documents the grassroots movement that led to the historic reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act ("VAWA") that President Obama signed into law in March 2013. As a result of a 1978 United States Supreme Court decision (Oliphant v. Suquamish Indian Tribe), Indian Nations had been stripped of their inherent jurisdiction to prosecute crimes committed against their own citizens. Following the Court's decision in Oliphant, rates of domestic violence and sexual assault against Native women on reservations sky rocketed to epidemic proportions. As reauthorized in 2013, VAWA now includes a jurisdictional provision recognizing the inherent sovereignty of Indian Nations to prosecute non-Natives who commit crimes of domestic violence against Native women on tribal lands.
Sliver of a Full Moon's cast features three of the courageous Native women who stepped forward to publicly in 2013 to share their stories of survival and abuse with Members of Congress: Diane Millich (Southern Ute), Lisa Brunner (White Earth Ojibwe) and Billie Jo Rich (Eastern Band Cherokee). These women step forward to once again take the stage and personally share their stories of survival. Sliver of a Full Moon combines performance with personal, art with advocacy, and rehearsed with reality to create an incomparable theatrical experience.

Vancouver's Jill Barber released her sixth album, Fool's Gold, on June 17th in Canada on Outside Music. Though she rarely works within the confines of any one genre, Barber continues to explore different musical styles from traditional country to jazz to Motown. She writes in the spirit of the Brill Building era where hook and melody reigned. Produced by Les Cooper and Drew Jurecka, the album encapsulates the search for love. Barber says, "In life we're always looking for the real thing. And when it comes to love, we're all fools. Something shiny and new can turn to brass. Still, we bet everything on the hope that one day our prize will deliver. Rich is the fool who stumbles upon fortune in love."

What started as a drunken joke for Finnerty singing "I Am Woman" at a karaoke bar has spiraled out of control into THE DAN BAND - a cult phenomenon that has garnered rave reviews from The New York Times, The L.A. Times, Variety, Rolling Stone among others, and prompted Entertainment Weekly to dub it "the hottest ticket in Hollywood."
