In her show entitled, FROM THE BRILL BUILDING TO THE METROPOLITAN ROOM: SANDRA PILLER SINGS RUTH ROBERTS, the audience will hear songs recorded by such artists as Petula Clark, Dean Martin, Buddy Holly, Jimmy Dean, Lawrence Welk, Freda Payne, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, and many more.

"There will be songs everyone is already familiar with," Piller states, "not only because they were in films or TV shows and on the Hit Parade, but because Ruth wrote some of the greatest sports songs of all time. Her work is played at baseball and football games all across the country. She even had a song recorded by The Beatles. I'm not going to tell you the names of the songs now because that's part of the surprise when you're at the show."

Songs from the Brill Building were the soundtrack of America for many years. Hit song after hit song emerged from the songwriting teams of the Brill era. "It was an amazing place," Piller continues, "where songwriters could write a song in the morning, get an arrangement written after lunch, and have a singer or group record a demo that afternoon -- all in the same building!"

Songs written by Ruth Roberts appeared in a wide variety of genres. "There have been so many hits from Ruth Roberts," Piller says, shaking her head in admiration. Dean Martin sang a Roberts tune in one of his films. There was a song recorded by Paul Anka. And even a gospel-tinged song. "And the Beatle recording," Piller adds.

Sandra Piller's music career began with a legend, Sun Records icon and country music producer Cowboy Jack Clement, with whom she signed her first single song contract as a songwriter. For the past several years she has collaborated with Nashville songwriting pro Jane Bach (Reba McEntire, Collin Raye, JoDee Messina). The title track from her 2011 "Days Like These" CD hit the Music Row charts and was Top Ten on the New Music Weekly country chart. Sandra's latest EP, "One Step Closer" was released August 15, 2015.

The Sandra Piller cabaret show is Saturday, October 31 from 4-5pm. The Metropolitan Room is at 34 West 22nd St, NY 10010. Phone (212) 206-0440 for reservations.
