After her successful New York City début, Mexican musical theatre and jazz superstar Florencia Cuenca will be back at The Metropolitan Room on Monday, March 21st at 9:30pm with her project The New Standards. The show is arranged and music directed by musical theatre composer and Florencia's husband, Jaime Lozano. Watch Cuenca sing, "Tell Me on a Sunday" from Andrew Lloyd Webber's SONG AND DANCE, below!

Florencia and Jaime have created what they called The New Standards taking songs from contemporary musicals such as Raisin, Follies, Pippin, The Color Purple, among others, and making their very own versions with eclectic and latin jazz influenced arrangements by Jesus Altamira and Jaime Lozano.

Her album "Aquí - Los Nuevos Standards" (I'm Here - The New Standards) has been described as a "one of the most uniques cover albums of recent memory" and a "highly-addictive disc" for BwayTunes.com.

Florencia will be joined onstage by a quartet with some of the best New York City-based musicians, featuring pianist Addison Frei, saxophonist Ole Mathisen, bassist Mark Van Ziegler and drummer Ross Pederson; all of them with a very renowned jazz career by themselves touring around the world.
