Sikes says, "Bernadette Peters is Broadway's sweetheart, Sondheim's muse, and a lifelong hero of mine. The songs in her catalog are an embarrassment of riches, and I can't wait to explore them, all in tribute to the lady herself."
Each of Sikes's previous appearances at the venue sold out, and he garnered excellent reviews as well as a Broadway World award for his show Seth Sikes Sings Judy Garland. The New York Times said, "The performance - less an impression of Ms. Garland than an interpretation of her vibrato-heavy method of belting - was a hit."
The critics were just as kind for his follow-up show Seth Sikes Sings Liza Minnelli and The New York Post said, "It was a heartfelt concert. Sikes has a heap of fans and his audiences are always tightly packed and brimming with enthusiasm for his booming, jazzy renditions of their favorite songs."
Previously best known in the theater as an Assistant Director (on shows like The Band's Visit, The Nance, and Pageant), Sikes will perform with a six-piece band with musical arrangements by Matt Aument and Neil Douglas Reilly. The evening will be directed by Eric Gilliland and Mark Hartman serves as the evening's musical director.
Cover charge starts at $30 and there is a $25 food and beverage minimum. Tickets and information are available at www.54Below.com. Tickets on the day of performance after 4:00 PM are only available by calling (646) 476-3551.
