Singer, songwriter, and poet Ruth Carlin brings back her well-received, passionate show "SongMoments" to The Duplex this autumn for two very special performances on Thursday, November 29 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 2 at 4:30 p.m.

"SongMoments" is a wildflower bouquet of songs by composers as varied as Julie Gold, John Bucchino, Murray Grand, David Friedman, Irving Berlin, Cy Coleman, and Johnny Mercer, to name just a few. Ruth will also be showcasing recent original compositions.

Music director Paul Greenwood will join Ruth in the show, which is staged by director Scott Barnes.

Ruth's passion to communicate through song drew back her to cabaret performing after a stint with the BMI Musical Theatre Workshop. Along the way she studied vocal technique with Marianne Challis. Her first solo show was in November of 2005 at Danny's Skylight Room, and a second show followed at The Laurie Beechman. Since then Ruth has performed regularly at The Duplex.

Music director Paul Greenwood is well-known as a pianist, arranger, and singer on the New York Cabaret circuit and has accompanied countless performers in concert and cabaret, including George Burns, Elly Stone, Jane Olivor, Art Garfunkel, Ann Hampton Callaway, Loni Ackerman, Anita Gillette, Penny Fuller, Nancy Lamott, and Sylvia McNair. Paul is a recipient of the Backstage Magazine Bistro Award, the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC) Award, and the Leonardo DaVinci Award given by the Beaux Arts Society. He is currently helping Penny Fuller prepare her new one-woman show.

Director Scott Barnes has created acts for award-winning singers Bette Midler, Rita Moreno, Kathie Lee Gifford, Barbara Brussell, Marianne Challis, and Alix Korey, and for five years directed, publicized and managed the career of the late, legendary Nancy Lamott, hailed by New York Magazine as "the best cabaret singer in New York." He received the 1994 and 1996 MAC Awards for Best Director.

The Duplex is located at 61 Christopher Street at 7th Avenue, New York City. There will be a $15 cover and 2 drink minimum. For reservations, call (212) 255-5438 or reserve online by clicking on one of the following dates: Thursday, November 29 at 7:00 p.m. or Sunday, December 2 at 4:30 p.m.
