Feinstein's/54 Below will welcome The Second Act Series back to their stage with a one-night-only concert of the much-loved musical Charlotte Sweet. The toast of Off-Broadway in the early 1980's, Charlotte Sweet spotlights Charlotte, a girl with one of the highest & most beautiful soprano voices in the world. Because of her father's debts, she is forced to leave her Liverpool sweetheart, Ludlow Ladd, and join Barnaby Bugaboo's Circus of Voices: a troupe of freak voices including low-voiced Katinka Bugaboo, fast-voiced Harry Host, bubble-voiced Cecily Macintosh, and Skitzy Scofield (with dual personalities & voices). These quirky characters and more will come to life once again for a one-night-only concert at Feinstein's/54 Below.
With a tuneful score by Gerald Jay Markoe (Another Time, Ludlow Ladd) sung by an all-star cast, and a witty libretto by Michael Colby (The Algonquin Kid, Tales of Tinseltown, Ludlow Ladd), Charlotte Sweet is sure to delight audiences of all ages. Set to star as the high-pitched Charlotte is Adrienne Eller, most recently seen in the National Tour of A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder. Joining Eller are Robert Cuccioli (Rothschild and Sons, Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark, Jekyll & Hyde) as Barnaby, Ellen Harvey (Present Laughter, Phantom of the Opera, How to Succeed...) as Katinka Bugaboo, Eddie Korbich (The Drowsy Chaperone, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, A Christmas Story) as Harry Host and Michael McCoy (Phantom of the Opera) as Bob Sweet. Additional casting will be announced shortly.
Charlotte Sweet - In Concert is presented by the team behind the popular Second Act Series, Steven Carl McCasland and James Horan, who brought Bring Back Birdie, Shelter (starring Jon Cryer), Onward Victoria, The Fix, Henry, Sweet Henry, Charlie and Algernon, 70, Girls, 70, Nick & Nora, Eating Raoul and more to New York's hottest supper club. The evening features Musical Direction by Horan and Direction by McCasland. Tickets for the one-night-only concert are available at: https://54below.com/events/charlotte-sweet-concert/.
