On Friday, July 31st, composer/lyricist Rob Shapiro will present Easily Distracted: Songs of Rob Shapiro at the Laurie Beechman Theatre.

The concert will feature performances by Liz Carbonell, Danny Gardner (Goodspeed's Half A Sixpence), Melanie Hopkins, Auri Marcus (Theatreworks USA's If You Give a Mouse a Cookie...), Rich Silverstein, Sarah Statler (Prospect Theatre's The Dome) and Lauren Worsham (The 25th Annual...Spelling Bee, New York City Opera's Candide).

The evening begins at 8pm and is directed by Daniel Fischer with music direction by Andy Einhorn (The Light in the Piazza, Sweeney Todd national tours).

Easily Distracted also features lyrics by Tony Asaro (Our Country), Julianne Wick Davis (Wood at NYMF) and music by Julia Meinwald (Disappeared at Prospect Theatre Company) and Will Aronson (The Trouble with Doug).

Rob Shapiro's music and lyrics have been featured at Barrington Stages (William Finn's "Songs by Ridiculously Talented Composers and Lyricists..."), the Laurie Beechman Theatre, The Duplex, New York Theatre Barn and Don't Tell Mama. As a producer, he has worked with Ryan Scott Oliver on The Spotlight Cabaret at the Beechman as well as Oliver's RATED RSO at Joe's Pub. He is currently collaborating with composer Julia Meinwald and playwright Bekah Brunstetter on a new musical. Rob received a BA in Music from Cornell University and his MFA from NYU Tisch's Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program in 2007. www.rsmusicals.com.
