As Google makes it easier and easier for us to live online, the boundaries between privacy, commerce and the desire for information are continually being blurred. At Joe's Pub on December 12, 2010 at 7PM, The Living Newspaper: Google Rising 1.2 will illuminate and examine the evolving landscape of online information sharing.
The Living Newspaper is a live performance series that brings together the immediacy of today's news, the endless possibility of exchange provided by the web and the power of live performance in a memorable, unique and fiercely relevant theatrical event. Each edition of The Living Newspaper is unique and includes drama, comedy, music, dance, and multimedia, as audiences are invited to become a part of compelling theatre that you will think about, and talk about, far beyond yesterday's headlines.
With direction from Laura Savia (Assistant Director of Merchant of Venice starring Al Pacino), The Living Newspaper: Google Rising 1.2 will feature performances from Frank De Julio (Three Sisters directed by Olympia Dukakis), Azhar Khan, Carrie McCrossen (Tartuffe at Pearl Theatre Company), Bonna Tek, Claire Wilmoth and DeWanda Wise (who can be seen as Juliana on ABC's One Life to Live).
Written by Sarah Burgess, Josh Koenigsberg and Don Nguyen, The Living Newspaper: Google Rising 1.2 is produced by DRD Theatricals/Anthony Francavilla and Amanda Davidowitz, with dramaturgy by Alex Barron, costume design by Emily DeAngelis, projection design by Anne Goelz, and stage management by Paul Brewster. The Living Newspaper was originally conceived by Anthony Francavilla and Laura Savia.
The special one night only performance of The Living Newspaper: Google Rising 1.2 will take place on Sunday, December 12th at 7pm at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette Street). Tickets, priced at $15, can be purchased in advance online at www.JoesPub.com or by phone at 212-967-7555. Tickets will be $20 at the door.
