"KEY CHANGE: Preston Allen's Pre-T Hour On Broadway" plays The Duplex Cabaret Theatre tonight, November 15th, at 9:30 p.m.
Preston Max Allen is a writer, composer, and occasional performer whose musicals WE ARE THE TIGERS, REMISSION, and CARRIE 2: THE RAGE (AN UNAUTHORIZED MUSICAL PARODY) have gained a tiny ounce of popularity over the last four years under the name Rebekah M. Allen.
Now, as Preston begins a testosterone-fueled transition, he's taking the stage for one-night-only to champion his dream roles through the years, from Eponine to Evan Hansen, before the range-change of a lifetime. It's a cliché-ridden, "songs you shouldn't sing in an audition" extravaganza, but if anyone's ever earned a heartfelt rendition of "The Wizard and I," it's this guy.
So settle in for one hour, a minimum of two drinks, and countless characters as Preston, alongside music director Patrick Sulken, brings Broadway to life on The Duplex Cabaret Theatre...then has to go through puberty again in his Harlem apartment.
Guest performers include Jenny Rose Baker (Fiddler on The Roof), Lauren Nicole Chapman (Frozen, Kinky Boots), Kristin Stokes (Lightning Thief), and Patrick Sulken. Direction by Richard J. Allen.
The Duplex Cabaret Theatre is located at 61 Christopher Street (on 7th Avenue, just off the 1 train). Tickets are $8 in advance and $13 at the door, and there is a two beverage minimum. Tickets can be purchased at www.purplepass.com/keychange1115.
