PlaidBird Productions and The Laurie Beechman Theatre will pres- ent Jaye Maynard in "Bird Amongst the Blossom-A Tribute to the First Blossom Dearie Songbook" at West Bank Cafe on Tuesday, October 23rd, 2012 at 7pm and Sunday, October 28th, 2012 at 1pm.

Featuring Jaye Maynard (vocals), Jon Delfin (musical direction/piano) and Leon Lee Dorsey (upright bass) with additional direction by Mary O'Brady. Tickets are $15.00 with a $15.00 minimum and are available via phone reservation.

Vocalist Jaye Maynard, a recent participant at the renowned International Cabaret Conference at Yale, pays homage to the wised-up baby-doll jazz stylings of the late Blossom Dearie. Maynard received Pick of the Week by the International Review of Music in both LA and NYC for performances earlier this year.

For several selections, Delfin accompanies Maynard on Blossom's last apartment piano, which she discovered and purchased on Ebay after Dearie bequeathed it to the Manhattan Association of Cabarets. Maynard interprets "The First Blossom Dearie Songbook", containing songs written for and by Dearie in collaboration with Johnny Mercer, Bob Dorough and Dave Frishberg.

The show had its theatrical debut at NYC's United Solo Theater Festival on Theatre Row in November of last year and played The Cornelia Street Cafe in Greenwich Village following its Los Angeles premiere Upstairs at Vitello's Red Carpet Jazz.

Maynard styles her show as a mid-Century modern NYC supper club act ala 1962. Known throughout the world as "a musician's musician," Dearie was a unique and inimitable singer; sophisticated and genuinely funny, whose legacy of material remains fresh, hip, smart and sassy.
