Dateline: 1938. It is the Golden Age of Coney Island. The amusements of Steeplechase and Luna Park overlook beaches filled with sun-dappled bathers. Excitement-seekers had their choice of acres of rides and attractions: The Thunderbolt, The Tornado, The Pavilion of Fun, The Insanitarium. And you couldn't toss a dwarf without hitting a ten-in-one, whether The Coney Side Show, The World Circus Sideshow, or The Palace of Wonders Freak Show. It is also the Golden Age of Burlesque, as Gypsy Rose Lee, Sherry Britton, and Sally Rand toured stages across the country and around the world. And finally, it is the Golden Age of Movie Comedy: The Marx Brothers ruled the Silver Screen, releasing eight classic movies during the decade. On Friday August 13 at 10pm, these three Golden Ages come together again for the first time when "The Pinch Brothers (also sisters)" return to Coney Island for A DAY ON THE BOARDWALK, A NIGHT AT THE SIDESHOW, Pinchbottom Burlesque's homage to the Marx Brothers created explicitly for Coney Island USA.

When Hugo J. Porkenbush, house doctor to the Coney Island Sideshow, accidentally incapacitates all the performers, he has to find replacement acts - and fast. So he recruits a pair of Boardwalk grifters (Nasto & Tiggo) to shanghai "volunteers" for the show. But when, instead of hapless victims, they abduct a bevy of burlesque performers from the Mermaid Parade, the show goes on... a lot further than anyone expected!

Pinchbottom co-founders Nasty Canasta and Jonny Porkpie reunite for the first time in 2010 to bring this hit show back to Coney Island for its second smash year after a sold-out debut in 2009. The two have not produced a show together since last year's holiday extravaganza "Filthy Lucre: A Burlesque Christmas Carol". "Playing the ‘Groucho' to Nasty's ‘Chico' has been one of the great joys of the last five years of working together as Pinchbottom," said Porkpie. "So when Coney Island USA offered us the opportunity to bring ‘A Day on the Boardwalk, A Night at the Sideshow' back for a second year, we couldn't say no."

For one night only, another of the best movies the Marx Brothers comes to the stage of Sideshows By The Seashore on Coney Island. Starring NASTY CANASTA & JONNY PORKPIE, and BB HEART as The Pinch Brothers (also sisters), plus magician ALBERT CADABRA, Coney Island royalty BAMBI THE MERMAID, burlesque sensation BUNNY LOVE, human blockhead and sidehsow host DONNY VOMIT, and Miss Coney Island 2009 GAL FRIDAY

Press Raves for Pinchbottom's Marx Brothers homage, "The Pinch Brothers in The Bawdy House"
"The lights dimmed, manic movie music began, and we were off. Jonny Porkpie and Nasty Canasta stepped on stage to host the show - a Marx Brothers send-up, loosely following a storyline about saving an ailing theatre by turning it into a bawdy-house. Along the way came risqué magic tricks, a peek-a-boo performance by a tattooed lady, many a cheeky flash from male and female performers alike, the odd nostalgic burlesque routine, and the hint of a lesbian sub-plot. It was daring, funny, imaginative and titillating to all tastes - and, at $15 a ticket, about as good entertainment value as you can get in New York City." -Sunday Telegraph (UK)
