You never know who will show up at Jim Caruso's Cast Party at Birdland! The award-winning open mic/variety show has been the place for show folk to strut their stuff for the past ten years, with no let-up in sight. Scroll down for a look at this week's star-studded concert!
This past Monday, Tony winner
Tonya Pinkins sang a heartfelt "Good Morning Heartache,"
Dani Shay and
Ali Stroker from "The Glee Project" thrilled everyone with their performances,
Capathia Jenkins wailed "Natural Woman,"
William Blake sang the blues, composer
Ken Hirsch sang his pop hit "No One In The World" (and a bit of "I've Never Been to Me"), Dallas diva
Denise Lee won new fans,
Jeff Harnar gave a taste of his upcoming Birdland concert,
Gabrielle Stravelli jazzed-up the proceedings, Bayside! The Musical's leading man
John Duff crooned,
Christine Lavin had the crowd screaming with laughter, and
Natalie Douglas killed, as always.
The Cast Party Symphony Orchestra (
Tedd Firth,
Steve Doyle and
Carmen Intorre) accompanied the performers with their usual flair and musical dexterity. As
Ann Hampton Callaway says, "Cast Party is musical come-what-mayhem!"
Jim Caruso's Cast Party takes place at Birdland (315 West 44 Street) in New York City every Monday night at 9:30pm. For more information, visit
