The "Tomatoes Got Talent" show took place, Tuesday, February10 at Stage 72/Triad. Randie Levine-Miller emceed and co-produced the talent show competition featuring women over 40, with Cheryl Benton of The Three Tomatoes.
According to Levine-Miller: "Some of our performers started out to be pros, but "life" took them in other directions. But now they're back.....and some of them are better than ever. Some of our "faux-pros" are as fabulous as current "pros" in the business."
Judging the contest were show business veterans:Tony Award nominated actress/singer,
Beth Fowler (SAG Award for "Orange Is The New Black"); TV and Theater Actress
Margaret Colin,("Gossip Girls", "As The World Turns" "Jackie"); and
Alyce Finell, co-director of The
Mabel Mercer Foundation.(Photo attached). Guest performers from last year's finalists, Edna Kaufman and Karen Nason (2014 winner.).
Paul Chamlin musical directed.
Top prize went to Susan Vardy, who has a PhD in clinical psychology (and is President of her local PTA). Runners up were: Judith Ann Graham, (former Miss NY State in the Miss America pageant), author, teacher and makeup artist; Jayne Magdalen Traver, 8th grade English Teacher; Phyllis Mollen, an administrative assistant at NY Hospital; and
Angela Leone, a technical expert for the Social Security Administration.
The winner and runners up will all perform in "Randie Levine-Miller's Showstopper Divas" Show which will take place on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Stage72/ Triad--- Net proceeds will benefit a charity.
"The bottom line is never give up on your dream," says show co-creator Cheryl Benton, whose popular (and free!) online newsletter, The Three Tomatoes is "The Insider's Guide for Women Who Aren't Kids".
