Popular Broadway actress, Stephanie J. Block, headlined at the legendary Birdland on Monday, August 27.

Block helped shape the role of Elphaba during the pre-Broadway Los Angeles workshops of Wicked and later reprised the role in the first national tour. She will put the green make-up back on again to star in the Broadway company beginning October 9. Block appeared opposite Hugh Jackman as Liza Minnelli in The Boy from Oz and most recently starred as Grace O'Malley in The Pirate Queen.

The 7PM show was presented Jim Caruso's Cast Party and TheaterMania.com as part of the weekly series of Sunday and Monday night concerts featuring top Broadway stars and theatre song writers at Birdland, 315 West 44th Street, NYC.

Following Block's concert was The Cast Party at 10PM, hosted by Jim Caruso, with performances by David Ippolotto, Julie Wilson, Christine Lavin and Malan Breton, with Billy Strictch at piano. For reservations, call: (212) 581-3080 or visit www.birdlandjazz.com.
