At
Jim Caruso's Cast Party this past Monday, October 22nd, there was an autumnal cornucopia of talent, with impromptu performances by two original cast members of Sophisticated Ladies,
Terri Klausner and
Ty Stephens. Evita's
Rachel Potter gave a taste of her upcoming Nashville-tinged Birdland Sunday concert.
Allison Semmes from Book Of Mormon sang an appropriate "Lullaby of Birdland,"
Sarah Rice, the original Sweeney Todd Johanna, showed off her spooky theremin talents, former
Billy Elliot star
Ruby Rakos was "Down With Love," Jessie Shelton and Alex Rice performed one of Rice's beautiful theater songs, and
Sean Michael Murray (from Rent and American Idiot), gave a stunning performance of "I'm Alive" from Next To Normal.
Some swell cabaret and jazz stars performed, too, like
Carly Ozard,
Jeff Harnar,
Parker Scott,
Vanessa Trouble,
William Blake,
Matthew Newton and a string quartet called "Well Strung!" Everyone was accompanied by
Matt Baker,
Steve Doyle and Danny Young, so the music was sublime.
Jim Caruso's Cast Party takes place every Monday night at 9:30 at Birdland (315 West 44 Street) in NYC.
