Gingold Theatrical Group (David Staller, Artistic Director) today announced that Ed Dixon, Jeff Harnar, Christine Pedi, Jon Weber, Aaron Weinstein, Lauren Worsham, and Karen Ziemba would join the next presentation of Project Shaw. The 13th season continued on April 30th with SHAW SONGS, a festive cabaret evening of songs that George Bernard Shaw played, sang, and enjoyed (1856-1950). Marcia Milgrom Dodge directs with Paul Staroba serving as Musical Director.
This one night only event takes place at
The Players Club, the original home of Project Shaw, at
16 Gramercy Park South.
The evening of songs performed by some of New York's most exciting performers will feature Gilbert & Sullivan, Rodgers & Hart,
Noel Coward,
Cole Porter, along with Operetta, Opera, Music Hall, and many of your favorites. Though not commonly known, Shaw was an accomplished pianist and relished the popular songs of his day. And, since he lived from 1856 to 1950 that means there's plenty to choose from!
The 13th season will then continue back at
Symphony Space for Shaw's The Doctor's Dilemma (May 21st), Buoyant Billions (June 18th), Back to Methuselah (Part 1 - October 22nd, Part 2 - November 19th), and from Shaw's contemporaries, Chicago by
Maurine Dallas Watkins (the basis of the long running musical, on July 23rd), The New Word by J. M. Barrie & O'Flaherty along with Shaw's V.C. (September 24th), and The Enchanted Cottage by
Arthur Wing Pinero (December 17th).
"Our Shaw Concerts in the past have featured music Shaw had championed as the New Modern Music (Dvorak, Wagner, Elgar, R. Strauss, Brahms), but this year we've decided to embrace Shaw's love of popular songs with a festive cabaret. For the price of our regular Project Shaw performance, you're invited to a party. We're also looking forward to being back in the legendary Players Club," said Mr. Staller.
Tickets for SHAW SONGS on April 30th may be purchased for $35 online at
OvationTix.com or by calling toll-free

Now celebrating its 13th year, Gingold Theatrical Group's Project Shaw made history in December 2009 as the first company ever to present performances of every one of Shaw's 65 plays (including full-length works, one-acts and sketches). They are now also including plays by writers who most inspired Shaw to begin his playwriting career, including work by Chekhov, Ibsen, Wilde, Barrie, and
Harley Granville-Barker -- while continuing its new play development and educational programs. For those interested in lively off-site discourses, each Project Shaw event is followed by a talk-back with cast members. GTG's
David Staller and
Stephen Brown-Fried are also hosting a monthly Shaw Club discussion group. Always lively, they meet the Monday evening after every Project Shaw event at
520 8th Avenue. For reservations, which are required, call
212-355-7823 or email
