"Jim Caruso's Cast Party" has always boasted a wide array of musical styles, and this week's episode was certainly no exception. Five-time Grammy winning inspirational singer Sandi Patty gave a preview of her new "Broadway Stories" cd (released on 10/18/11) with a stunning performance of "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man." Lindsay Pearce ("The Glee Project" and "Glee") belted "Gimme Gimme" for the cheering throngs. Lebanese pop superstar Carole Samaha vamped a sexy "All That Jazz" with Seth Rudetsky at the piano. Matt Corner, a musical theater performer from London, showed his spectacular tenor voice on "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square." Theatrical VIPs like Larry O'Keefe, Nell Benjamin, and Lance Horne enjoyed swinging performances by Rudy Martinez, Julie Garnye, Vanessa Trouble, Antoine Bleck, KT Sullivan, Viva Vinson, Colleen McHugh, BriAnna Thomas, Karen Oberlin, Shana Farr, Jenna Esposito, and many more! Host Caruso, along with the Cast Party Symphony Orchestra (Tedd Firth, Steve Doyle & Daniel Glass) kept the Party on the fast-track until the wee hours of the morning.
For the past eight years, "Jim Caruso's Cast Party" has taken place every Monday night at 9:30pm at Birdland (315 West 44 Street) in New York City. Recently Caruso and musical director Billy Stritch have taken the Party on the road to Los Angeles, Chicago, Las Vegas, and (this coming Thursday night) to Nighttown Jazz in Cleveland.
