At Birdland this past week,
Jim Caruso's Cast Party was a jam-packed, sold-out crazy-quilt of talent. The weekly 'extreme'' open mic night was the place to hear Broadway tunes, jazz standards, an Italian pop tune, a Beyoncé hit, the blues, and a few original tunes that defied description. Scroll down for photos from the concert!
Highlights included a song by
Donnie Kehr (currently seen in the "Jersey Boys" film), Tyran Parke,
Alex Hopkins and
Linden Furnell (three Australian crooners), Benedetta Imperatore and Rio (two Italian singers), an original tune by
Eric Dietz performed by the composer and Gillian Hassert, and a tune from Matilda brilliantly sung by nine-year-old Mira Cohen!
Beloved regulars and excited newcomers were accompanied by
Billy Stritch,
Steve Doyle and
Daniel Glass aka The Cast Party Symphony Orchestra.
Jim Caruso's Cast Party takes place every Monday night at 9:30pm after the Broadway at Birdland concert. Birdland is located at 315 West 44 Street, in the heart of the Theater District. Go to
