Daisy Eagan is full of surprises. Her Monday night concert was a crazy quilt of songs and stories culminating in one very big announcement that was a first for the Broadway at Birdland stage! That's right, Mary Lennox is having a baby! Of course, Daisy has been known as a full-grown, smart-talking gal-of-the-world for some time now, but to some, she'll always be that adorable kid who won the Tony at age 11. That's a lot to live up to, but, as the fans in the packed house can attest, she is an artist with a singular voice on the topic of surviving in an industry (and a world) filled with both triumph and tragedy. Among other things, Daisy celebrated her recent, now-famous Tweet that was heard round-the-world. Photos from the concert below!
Daisy is the youngest female ever to win a Tony Award for her performance as Mary Lennox in The Secret Garden, for which she also received Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations. Most recently she opened the first national tour of Love, Loss and What I Wore. She has performed in countless stage productions, including Les Misérables and James Joyce's The Dead on Broadway, as well as world premiere productions of Be Aggressive (La Jolla Playhouse, Garland Award Honorable Mention) and Christopher Shinn's On the Mountain (South Coast Rep). Daisy won a 2006 LA Weekly Award for her performance as Sally in the Blank Theatre Company's production of Michael John LaChiusa's The Wild Party. She has appeared in several films and television shows, including Losing Isaiah, Ripe, The Mentalist, Numb3rs, Without a Trace, The Unit, and Ghost Whisperer. Her one woman show Still Daisy After All These Years has had sold out runs in Los Angeles and New York.
