The Tedd Firth Trio started January 2019 off in true genius form with a week of performances for their debut at the Birdland Theater on West 44th St. in NYC.
The show had Mr. Firth taking control of the mic and hosting an evening of exciting music featuring Tedd Firth on Piano, David Finck on Bass, and Mark McLean on Drums. Each of the 4 nights of performances also featured a different guest artist singing a few tunes from their repertoire...songs sung in their own solo shows so often accompanied by Mr. Firth.

Wednesday night saw Tom Wopat demonstrating why they have worked together for so long (The kind of dude-ship that allows for smoky jazz clubs and singing a swinging song). Thursday brought Laura Osnes as a newer member of the Firth Collective (Enchanting the audience with a few beautiful tunes that have become associated with her Broadway work.). Friday night packed the house and raised the roof with the legendary Marilyn Maye (After a standing ovation for her My Fair Lady medley she said "Oh but it's YOUR show..." to which Tedd replied "Well it WAS"!). Saturday closed out the week proving why Tedd and Brian Stokes Mitchell work so well and so often together in concerts across the country (Stokes's tribute to his wife "It Amazes Me" a particular standout - and especially touching as the families of both Mr. Mitchell AND Mr. Firth were in attendance for this performance.).

The audience was a who's who of fans and fellow performers Firth has played for. Another week could easily be filled by some of the singers in attendance.
The trio's work proved why Tedd, David, & Mark are some of the top go-to talent in NYC for exciting musicianship. Most of the evening consisted of instrumental arrangements of standards and surprise selections - versions of "Fly Me To The Moon", a "Guys & Dolls" medley, "Starting Here, Starting Now", and a killer paced "What A Little Moonlight Can Do" left the audience energized and proved fitting solo showcases for each expert musician. These guys were "in the pocket" of every song genre they play.
