Judy Collins has inspired audiences with sublime vocals, boldly vulnerable songwriting, personal life triumphs, and a firm commitment to social activism. The award-winning singer-songwriter is esteemed for her imaginative interpretations of traditional and contemporary folk standards and her own poetically poignant original compositions. In the 1960s, she evoked both the idealism and steely determination of a generation united against social and environmental injustices. Five decades later, her luminescent presence shines brightly as new generations bask in the glow of her iconic 50-album body of work, and heed inspiration from her spiritual discipline to thrive in the music industry for half a century. Judy Collins is as creatively vigorous as ever, writing, touring worldwide, and nurturing fresh talent. She is a modern day Renaissance woman who is also an accomplished painter, filmmaker, record label head, musical mentor, and an in-demand keynote speaker for mental health and suicide prevention. She continues to create music of hope and healing that lights up the world and speaks to the heart.

Silver Skies Blue marks a first for Judy: an album made with another artist, of songs co-written by her and a partner that were crafted and sung together. Judy Collins and Ari Hest first met backstage at a show, and a friendship and artistic relationship blossomed over one-off duets, a recording of the song "Strangers Again" for Judy's 2015 album, and now this full-length album debut and a joint Collins/Hest tour. Says Collins: "I have written songs since 1967 when Leonard Cohen asked me why I was not writing my own. Although I have written many since then, writing with Ari has been new and challenging. We started our writing sessions and soon began to find our way together. What an amazing journey! Each song has been a revelation of melody and lyric, each song a new discovery."

Over 11 original songs, Silver Skies Blue unfurls with a magnetic chemistry between Judy's legendary voice and Ari's deep, velvety voice. The songs effortlessly sway from energetic and pulsing - "Drifting Away" and "I Choose Love" - to haunting ballads that linger like the political "Run." This new album comes on the heels of Judy's 2015 effort Strangers Again which went on to become her highest charting album on the Billboard 200 in decades, and debuted at #1 on Amazon's Music chart. Collins has recently appeared on NPR's Weekend Edition, 'Later....With Jools Holland,' and headlined shows at The MET and Lincoln Center's Out of Doors series. Judy Collins has appeared everywhere from Sesame Street to HBO's Girls, performed at a presidential inauguration and released two live DVD/CD specials in the past 4 years which were also broadcast on PBS. She performs over 100 shows a year and 2016 is no different.

Over his 15-year career, Ari Hest has released eight albums, three EPs, and 52 in 2008, an innovative project whereby he wrote, recorded and released a new song every Monday for a full year. Ari's song "The Landlord" recently appeared in an episode of NPR's "All Things Considered". Ari also scored a film called Dreamriders in 2008 which won several independent film awards.
