Joyce Breach may be "under the radar" to some audiences but to the sophisticated and musically astute Cabaret connoisseurs in the East Side supper club Beach Cafe last night she is always someone to be seen (and heard). It was a magical night of great standards and seldom heard treasures of the American Songbook sung by a consummate artist. With pianist/singer Billy Stritch on the piano bench it was an evening that harked back to the Golden Age of New York City elegant night life.
If you see the likes of Rex Reed, Linda Purl, KT Sullivan, Gus Rosendale, Sandy Stewart, Celia Burke, Alice Finell, Ruth Leon, and Eda Sorokoff in the same Cabaret Room you know something special is happening and it seems that this intimate space (Beach Cafe) is becoming ground zero for the ultimate true up close and personal cabaret experience.
