Returning to New York City for the first time since their hit Off-Broadway run last fall in Striking 12, the acclaimed pop band GrooveLily played a special, two-set concert at The Zipper Factory (336 West 37th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues) on Sunday, October 14 at 7PM; with special guest Jesse Nager.

The evening began with some of the band's fan favorites (including a few selections from Striking 12), plus a special East Coast preview of their latest work, Sleeping Beauty Wakes, which broke box office records during its LA premiere this spring. The second set was devoted entirely to songs from the trio's newest album, "A Little Midsummer Night's Music," their second CD on the PS Classics label. Released in February of this year, the CD features the score written for the innovative production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by Tina Landau and co-produced by McCarter Theatre and Paper Mill Playhouse. The band's joyous score won raves from critics and audiences alike.

With backgrounds in classical music, musical theater, jazz, and rock, the three members of GrooveLily – Gene Lewin (drums/vocals), Brendan Milburn (keyboards/ vocals) and Valerie Vigoda (electric violin/vocals) – cross boundaries with intelligent, original songs (and no shortage of wit), connecting lush musical textures and soaring vocals to make a new music that's all their own.
