The Emmy Award winning actor Fyvush Finkel jokes, "I'm 92, but looking at this audience I realize that's no big deal." Fyvesh was the star of Yiddish Night at the Friars Club last night, although his co-stars were his sons Elliot, Ian, and the special menu of traditional Jewish favorites prepared by the staff.
Fyvesh is a big deal, and the show put on by the Finkel family was an amazing display of musicianship and acting by Fyvesh and his sons Elliot & Ian.
The New York Times called Fyvesh, "the face that could launch a thousand shticks", and MC Stewie Stone and comic Dave Konig also launched a bunch of very funny comments as they introduced the evening. At the conclusion of the show Friar Konig thanked Mr. Finkel for bringing along his prodigy sons, (Elliot 63, Ian 66).
I don't know who Fyvesh was referring to when he looked around at the audience and said it was no big deal being 92 in the Frank Sinatra dinning room. It certainly wasn't my table.
