Photo Coverage Exclusive: Lane Celebrates His Birthday with Ebersole at the Carlyle

On Tuesday, February 3rd, beloved star of stage and screen Nathan Lane, celebrated his birthday at The Café Carlyle in Manhattan by taking in a performance of Christine Ebersole's acclaimed cabaret concert.

Ms. Ebersole sang "Happy Birthday" to Mr. Lane in the style of Marilyn Monroe. Also in attendance at the event were Rupert Everett, Michael Blakemore, Rob Ashford, Chris Noth, Anne Kaufman Schneider (playwright George S. Kaufman's daughter), Scott Wittman and Andrea Martin.

Nathan Lane made his Broadway debut with George C. Scott in the 1982 revival of Present Laughter as Roland Maule, for which he received a Drama Desk nomination. This was followed by Merlin with Chita Rivera, Toad in The Wind in the Willows, Some Americans Abroad at Lincoln Center, On Borrowed Time with George C. Scott and Teresa Wright, Nathan Detroit in Jerry Zaks' 1992 revival of Guys and Dolls (Tony nomination, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards), Max Prince in Neil Simon's Laughter on the 23rd Floor, Buzz in Terrence McNally's Love! Valour! Compassion! (Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards for Best Actor), Pseudolus in Jerry Zaks' 1996 revival of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards), SheriDan Whiteside in The Man Who Came to Dinner at the Roundabout, Max Bialystock in The Producers (Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards and in London the Olivier Award), Dionysos in The Frogs for which Mr. Lane co-authored the book, with a score by Stephen Sondheim and directed by Susan Stroman, Oscar Madison in the 2005 revival of The Odd Couple, Butley for director Nicholas Martin in 2006 at the Booth Theater, and as President Charles H.E. Smith in David Mamet's November in 2008. Off-Broadway he was most recently seen in Terrence McNally's Dedication or The Stuff of Dreams. In 1992 he won the Obie Award for Sustained Excellence. Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) will present (in order of speaking) Nathan Lane (Estragon), Bill Irwin (Vladimir), John Goodman (Pozzo), David Strathairn (Lucky) in a new Broadway production of Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett and directed by Tony® award winner Anthony Page.
