Don’t Tell Mama welcomes West Coast singing sensation Devlin, who returns to New York with her all new show “The Places You Find Love” on Monday October 13th and Wednesday October 15th at 7PM, plus a special happy hour show on Saturday October 18th at 5PM. This engagement also celebrates Devlin’s first CD release, “Devlin Live In New York.”
A California native, Devlin made her sold-out New York Cabaret Debut at Helen’s in March of 2007. She also appeared for two nights at The Metropolitan Room last October.
In addition to her extensive experience in San Diego, Devlin has appeared numerous times at Jim Caruso’s “Cast Party” at Birdland. In 2006, she was accepted to the Cabaret Conference at Yale where she met and worked with her multi-award winning directors, Lina Koutrakos and Rick Jensen. Devlin will be performing arrangements by Rick Jensen and Tex Arnold, singing about the many modes and moods of love.
Devlin is the recipient of the San Diego Playbill.com award for Best Actress in the role of Frankie in “Frankie and Johnny in The Claire De Lune”. She has studied at The Old Globe Theater and with Michael Shurtleff in Los Angeles. She has also produced, written and performed 2 one-woman shows, most notably the biographic “Parianos Drive” and starred in “Torchin’ the Blues” a full length solo concert.
This is what critics have said about Devlin:
“The green-eyed statuesque redhead has a lot going for her. Best was her medley of songs popularized by her idol, Cass Elliot. And her interpretations of those well-remembered songs are earnest, and sincere, and honest. She’s a fine addition to New York Cabaret. Go hear her when she surfaces next time.” – Jan Wallman, CabaretExchange.Com
“She sang her heart out and blew everyone away. She’s terrific with torch songs and knocks the funny ones outta the park.” - Pat Launer, Theater Critic KPBS
“From gospel to brassy jazz this gal carries the right amounts of pizzazz. Devlin had us eating notes from the palm of her hand & our musical appetites were peaked. Look for this one to keep on repeating & pleasing; she ain’t goin’ away folks!” Cuauhtemoc Q. Kish – World Talk Radio
