On Saturday September 10 Downtown's alternative supper-club Pangea wastes no time getting the fall season started.

That's when the alt-cabaret divas Joey Arias and Carol Lipnik headline a special one-night-only party-performance to celebrate Pangea's 30th birthday. The club, which The New York Times recently called "a bohemian oasis not unlike the fabled Max's Kansas City from days gone by," has been programming music and performance since January 2015.

The special double-decker night of excitement, "Lipnik y Arias," with Matt Kanelos on piano, is followed by a champagne reception for ticket holders. Saturday September 10, 8pm. The music charge is $30 and includes post-show champagne for toasts.

SEPTEMBER HIGHLIGHTS

Multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and vocalist Rachelle Garniez returns to Pangea for another helping of her enchanting story-songs. Garniez, who's been performing at the club since the spring, introduces her latest genre-straddling compositions from her newly released CD "Who's Counting" (StorySound Records). Her Pangea residency continues on Thursdays September 8, December 1 and 29, all at 7:30pm. Cover is $20

The precocious singer-songwriter from Israel, Gon Halevi, is here for one-night only, Monday September 12, at 7pm. The Tel Aviv-born, New York-basEd Halevi, is starting to gain a following as he parts the c's with songs that are tuneful like Manilow and delivered by a voice and presence that bubble with Bublé. Cover is $20.

The dapper singer-saxophonist Danny Bacher, sheds his big band for an intimate evening of swingin' jazz with Mark Soskin on piano. Hailed by the NY Times as "a prodigiously talented musical preservationist," Bacher makes his Pangea debut in this special one-night stand. Tuesday September 13, 7pm. Cover $25.

Here's a pleasant surprise! In her first full show in several years, veteran actress and nightclub singer Marti Stevens throws a couple of "Gems in a Crystal Bowl" with the masterful Tedd Firth ready to stir things up on piano. On Broadway and the West End, and in the swankiest clubs around the world, Stevens has always been that rarest of gems -- mirthfully elegant, naturally urbane, a true throwback to a time when good breeding wasn't a stretch. Don't miss her on Thursday September 15 at 7pm. Cover is $30.

Starting September 16, Tammy Faye Starlite rumbles down Second Avenue in her highly anticipated new cabaret Humvee, "Tammy Faye Starlite Presents Holy War 2016: The New Regime." This latest satirical one-woman revue starring the evangelical country singer herself, is Starlite's follow-up to her star turn as Marianne Faithful, "Cabaret Marianne," in which she combined music, commentary and improv. The show was called "jaw-dropping... easily the most revelatory show" of the season by Stephen Holden in The NY Times. Starlite's concussion grenade-of-a-show plays six nearly consecutive Fridays -- September 16, 23, 30, October 7, 14 and October 28. All at 7pm. Cover is $25.

The East Village's cabaret siren Carol Lipnik resumes her weekly Sunday séances on September 18. With Matt Kanelos on piano, Carol Lipnik's carnival-psychedelic performances, multi-octave voice (which Stephen Holden says "is, in a word, phenomenal") and Cassandra-like pronouncements have transformed this product of Coney Island into the new downtown diva of the moment. Watch her take flight most Sundays beginning September 18. Cover is $20.

Broadway star Sarah Rice brings her entrancing "Music of the Night" for her Pangea, which started in August. Produced by Cabaret Life Productions, this unique mezmerizing show features Rice on vocals, and playing the mysterious and ethereal theremin. With David Vernon on supplemental lead vocals and Eric Sedgwick on piano. Tuesday September 20. All at 7pm. The cover is $20.

Kim David Smith's brings us another encore of "Morphium Kabarett," his critically acclaimed neo-Weimar cabaret salon. Smith, the Australian alt-cabaret provocateur, was called "a living artwork," and " descendant of his fellow Australian Peter Allen," by Holden in The Times. With music direction by Tracy Stark, "Morphium Kabarett" performs Thursdays September 22, 29, October 6, and Monday October 24, all at 7pm. The cover is $25.

The electric vaudevillian Mark Nadler continues his acclaimed open run on select Saturdays, on Saturday Sept 24. Nadler, who ignites an evening of sophisticaTed Mayhem with back-to-back shows, offers what Holden of The Times calls "a miniature master class in the interpretation of song lyrics." Cover is $30.

There is a $20 food and drink minimum for all shows. To purchase tickets online visit www.pangeanyc.com , or for info call 212/995-0900. Pangea is located at 178 Second Avenue (between 11th & 12th Streets).

East Village hideaway Pangea fuses uptown sophistication with downtown experimentation to create an artistic environment all its own. The one-of-a-kind restaurant-bar and cabaret features a deliciously priced Italian-Mediterranean menu.
