After performing two sold-out shows in mid-January that garnered rave reviews from New York cabaret critics, Pamela Lewis (a.k.a. Champagne Pam), again brings her unique interpretation of Long Island icon Billy Joel's songbook to the New York's Metropolitan Room (34 West 22nd Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues) on Saturday, March 7 at 7 pm.

In New York State of Mind: The Songs of Billy Joel, you'll hear the 2013 BroadwayWorld New York Cabaret Award Winner for "Best Female Vocalist" deliver unique and stirring interpretations of classic Joel songs such as, "The Stranger," "My Life," "A Matter of Trust," "Just the Way You Are," "New York State of Mine," and many more beloved Joel hits.

Here's what the critics had to say about Pamela Lewis' show, New York State of Mind: The Songs of Billy Joel:

"Pamela Lewis offered new, vibrant, self-created arrangements of 15 Joel compositions, performing them in her own self-confident style . . . [Her singing] could be forceful or subtle but she was always organic, smooth, compelling, and vocally on target . . . If you care at all about the art of cabaret and its ability to illuminate a life we beg you not to miss it . . . " -Bistro Awards

"This show is a zestful romp through the early catalogue of one of New York's most prolific songwriting native sons . . . It's cool when a woman sings an entire show of songs written by a man, doesn't fear using the "wrong" pronouns, and puts her own spin on them by changing the feel, the tempo, and the arrangements. Lewis does all that with verve and then some in this show . . . Lewis is an entertainer, as she gestured with her hands in a way that one audience member told me afterward, "Cast a spell." . . . -BroadwayWorld.com

"Lewis delves into the passion and pain that infuses [Billy Joel's] work. She has a rich voice with the touch of a twang that is equally effective in Billy Joel's rock/pop style." -Theater Pizzazz!

"Lewis has an appealing, earthy voice and evident spirit . . . She invests in the story she tells . . . John Hurley's guitar is haunting . . . Marcus Parsley's excellent trumpet added unexpected dimension . . ." --Woman Around Town

Pamela Lewis considers the songs of Billy Joel to be the soundtrack of her life and has been dreaming about performing them since she was a little girl growing up on Long Island. "I've always treasured Joel's songbook," Lewis says of one of the great pop singer/songwriters of the past 40 years. Pamela's love of her Long Island home, understanding of Joel's Long Island roots, and passion for American popular song make her an ideal performer of this material.

With new arrangements created by Lewis, Bill Heller (her Musical Director/piano accompanist) and guitarist husband John Hurley (Marcus Parsley on trumpet and Ritt Henn on bass round out the terrific band), Pamela transforms Joel's classic songs into a sound of her own. Directed by well-known British cabaret star Barb Jungr, New York State of Mind presents Pamela Lewis just the way she is-a sassy singer who conveys an on-stage confidence and down-to-earth personality through her smooth, sensual vocals.
