OUR LADY J and EDISON WOODS Play Joe's Pub May 8

 

Our Lady J with The Pink Champagne String Quartet and Edison Woods will be at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette Street) Saturday, May 8.  Doors open at 10am with the show starting at 10:30pm.  Tickets are $15 and available online at www.joespub.com.

 

OUR Lady J presents An Evening of LOVE, with the return of The Pink Champagne String Quartet.  Hearkening back to her classical roots, the trans-songstress focuses on the art of song and melodic divinity for her one-night-only return collaboration with the virtuosic string quartet.

EDISON WOODS creates a mélange of eerie tones mixed with upbeat percussion and whimsical strings. The ensemble - which includes cello, reeds, guitar, piano, wurlitzers, drums, and Julia Frodahl's sugary voice - has been haunting stages from New York to Spain since 2000. David Garland of Spinning On Air calls their music "very powerful... daring, essential, dramatic, beautifully made, and likely to provoke goosebumps and gasps." While TIME OUT NEW YORK says about the band's recent "Wishbook Single" releases, "Recent tunes find singer-pianist Julia Frodahl in beautiful form and reveal the band to be as elegantly evocative as ever."
