Attention cabaret lovers: It's time to start remembering the great shows you saw in the past year and who performed in them so you can make your nominations for the 2nd Annual BroadwayWorld.com New York Cabaret Awards. The nomination period will begin on Monday, October 28, 2013 and will end on Sunday, November 24. After the final nominations ballot is announced, voting will begin on Monday, December 2 and end on Sunday, January 5. The winners will be announced the week of January 6. This year's 2013 BroadwayWorld.com New York Cabaret Awards Show will be on Sunday, February 23 at 6:30 at Joe's Pub and for the second successive year BroadwayWorld.com lead New York cabaret reviewer and columnist Stephen Hanks will host a show featuring performances by many of the winners.
When you make your nominations--at maximum of five in 21 categories--they should be for shows that were staged and performed from November 1, 2012 to October 31, 2013. Only shows that had a run of three performances or more are eligible. If the run of a 2012 show began last October and had its second or third performance after November 1, it can be eligible. The period of November 1, 2012 to October 31, 2013 also applies to nominations for Best CD Release and Best Original Song for a Cabaret Show. Songs written prior to November 1, 2013 or songs written for other entertainment categories but introduced to cabaret audiences in 2013 do not qualify.
Shows that were staged outside of New York City clubs are not eligible.
Anyone can enter nominations and vote, we just urge all those making nominations (and later voting on finalists) to only nominate or vote for shows or performers they have actually seen perform. In other words, while we can't stop 20 of a performers closest friends who may not have seen their show to nominate or vote for them, there's nothing we can do to prevent it so we're on an honor system here gang. Here is the list of the 21 categories for which you can make nominations. Note nomination guidelines where applicable:
