New York Voices For more than a quarter century the Grammy Award winning vocal ensemble New York Voices have been celebrated for their excellence in jazz, vocalese and the art of group singing. Like the great vocal groups that have come before -- Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, Singers Unlimited, Manhattan Transfer and Take 6 -- they have taken the genre to new places. Their interests are rooted in jazz, but often include Brazilian, R&B, classical and pop music with equal creativity and authenticity. The group was formed in 1987 by Darmon Meader, Peter Eldridge & Kim Nazarian and since 1992 has included Lauren Kinhan. Since 1989 they have recorded for the GRP, RCA Victor and Concord record labels and have made guest appearances on recordings by Paquito D'Rivera, The Count Basie Orchestra and The Boston Pops. "New York Voices lives up to its reputation as the most exciting vocal ensemble in jazz... to collect such quality voices in one group is rare enough, yet the real trick is how well they mesh..." -- Boston Herald$40 all seats, $10 minimum

Named for alto saxophonist and jazz pioneer Charlie "Bird" Parker who dubbed it "The Jazz Corner of the World," Birdland opened on December 15th 1949. For 60 years it has been home to jazz legends, from Parker, John Coltrane Duke Ellington and Count Basie to Oscar Peterson, Hank Jones, Diana Krall and everyone in between. The modern incarnation is a state of the art nightclub featuring award winning Southern and Cajun cuisine, first rate sound and lighting and a who's who of contemporary musical artists, 7 nights a week.
