54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, will present Andrew Kober's KOBERET tonight, August 18th at 9:30pm.
The performance will feature guest appearances by Andrew's Les Miserables cast mates Nikki M. James (The Book of Mormon), Keala Settle (Hands on a Hardbody), Caissie Levy (Hair), and Samantha Hill (The Phantom of the Opera), as well as a never-before-heard duet between Andrew and Elena Shaddow (The Bridges of Madison County).
In KOBERET Andrew Kober, Broadway's most beloved occasionally-employed actor (Les Miserables, Hair), muses on coming out, going in, gaining weight and getting thin. Previously seen at Joe's Pub, (le) Poisson Rouge, NYMF, and the Large Auditorium at Shaker Heights High School, KOBERET returns to the New York stage for one night only (...for now...). This latest incarnation may be even more self-indulgent than the original phenomenon that took the Midwest by storm 12 years ago. It is the story of the life of Andrew Kober (thus far) set to original music by some of NYC's hottest young composers, as well as covers of classics by the likes of Billy Joel and Otis Redding. KOBERET 2014 will include many of the embarrassing and heart-warming tales from Andrew's childhood that audiences have come to know and love, as well as brand new material and musical moments. You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll hear a story about a sex club in Paris.
The evening features music direction by Matt Hinkley (Violet, First Date, Godspell), and is produced by Erica Rotstein.
Andrew Kober's KOBERET plays 54 Below (254 West 54th Street) tonight, August 18, 2014 at 9:30pm. Tickets start at $25 and there is a $25 food and beverage minimum. Tickets and information are available at www.54Below.com. Tickets on the day of the performance after 4pm are only available by calling (646) 476-3551.
Andrew Kober holds a BFA in Acting from Carnegie Mellon University and can currently be seen in Les Miserables on Broadway. Other theatre credits include the original Shakespeare in the Park, Broadway, and West End revival casts of Hair (2009 Tony Award for Best Revival), the First National Tour of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Sense and Sensibility (Denver Theatre Center), Johnny Baseball (Williamstown Theatre Festival), Crazy Just Like Me (NYMF, 2011 Best of Fest Winner), as well as many readings, workshops, and concerts around New York City. He has performed his solo show, KOBERET, to sold-out crowds at NYMF, Joe's Pub, (le) Poisson Rouge, and Feinstein's. On screen, Andrew has been seen on "Boardwalk Empire" (HBO), "Blue Bloods" (CBS), "Pan Am" (ABC), and "House of Cards" (Netflix). He is also a co-creator and co-star of "Morons", currently in development. Andrew can be heard on the Original Revival Cast Recording of Hair, as well as Bobby Cronin's album "Reach the Sky" and Drew Gasparini's album "I Could Use a Drink". Twitter: @andrewkober
