Nightcap Cabaret joins forces with Players Club of Swarthmore for a one night only event Friday night October 14th at 8pm!
"When Life Gives You Kat Lemon" is a cabaret full of juicy melodies sung by one of Delco's finest. Kat Lemon is joined by Players Club of Swarthmore veterans Allison Griffith Gerrard, Eric Carter-Thompson, Colleen Clancy, and star of PCS' Angels in America, Part II: Perestroika, Eddie Donlevie. She is also joined by long-time friend Patrick Flood, her velvet voiced brothers J.J. Lemon, Jeff Lemon, and Mike Lemon Jr., and her notorious father, Mike Lemon Sr. of Mike Lemon Casting fame.
Backed by a talented band led by Pete Bretz, Kat will give you a night you won't soon forget. Friday night, October 14th at 8pm. This BYOB event will be held on Raymond W. Smith Stage at Players Club of Swarthmore.
"When Life Gives You Kat Lemon" will act as a guidebook on what to do/expect when life drops Kat Lemon into your life. From "how to cast her in your show" to "how to handle her family" to "how to prepare yourself for her inevitable stories about her tragic dating life" this cabaret will answer all of the questions you've ever had about how to deal with the puzzle-wrapped-in-an-enigma that is Kat Lemon. With music by Duke Ellington, Kerrigan-Lowdermilk, Jason Robert Brown, Sara Bareilles, The Jackson 5, and many others, you will be tapping your toes throughout the night.
If you know Kat Lemon, you know that there is nothing she loves to do more than sing. Whether on stage, in the car, at karaoke night, or in her sleep, Kat is never happier than when she is singing.
Kat was lucky enough to be born into a family with a natural talent for music and the inclination to take advantage of it. She sang throughout her school years, going on to major in jazz singing at Temple University before switching to the much more boring, but slightly more practical, accounting. Although Kat now spends her days preparing tax returns for nonprofit organizations, she spends much of her free time performing in cabarets and musicals and recording herself in four part harmony for fun in her basement bedroom.
Kat has had the opportunity to perform with a number of theater groups in the past decade where she has formed a ridiculous number of treasured friendships. Some of the groups that she considers family are: Players Club of Swarthmore (where she has played such roles as the Witch in Into the Woods, Smitty in How to Succeed, and where she will shortly be reprising her role as Miss Andrew in Mary Poppins), St. Francis Players (Ado Annie in Oklahoma!, and Lady Larken in Mattress), Upper Darby Summer Stage (Muzzy in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Fruma Sarah in Fiddler, and Miss Andrew in Mary Poppins), and, most recently, Glyndon Area Players in the Baltimore area where she had the chance to play Ursula in The Little Mermaid.
Nightcap Cabaret is delighted to produce this fundraiser for Players Club of Swarthmore where proceeds will help benefit the upgrade of technology for Raymond W. Smith Stage. All tickets $12 at the door. (Save $2 with advance reservation). Cash only. BYOB and snacks! www.nightcapcabaret.com
