NICOLE HENRY at the METROPOLITAN ROOM on July 31, 2009 @ 7:30 PM, back by demand after sold-out May debut
With her powerful voice, sophisticated stage presence and genuine enthusiasm, NICOLE HENRY gives a fresh feeling to standards and connects intimately with her fans with her personal and funny stories. Although she rarely performs in New York City, she clearly has a passionate following in the city judging by the early line outside of the door and the quickly sold-out room for her May debut. Listeners love her genuine delivery and her spirited approach to performing. It doesn't hurt that she's also a statuesque beauty and a distinctive personality!
In the U.S., Nicole has been featured at Lincoln Center; the Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis; Manchester Craftsmen's Guild in Pittsburgh; and in her hometown Miami, at Jazziz Bistro and Arturo Sandoval's. She has shared the stage with Isaac Hayes, Jennifer Holiday, Nicholas Payton, Joan Osborne, Roberta Flack and has performed with Kenny Werner and Tom Scott to name a few.
Nicole's newest CD is The Very Thought of You, which marks her return to songwriting and reached # 7 on the Billboard charts, a remarkable achievement for an independent release. She comes into The Metropolitan Room directly from her run at Blues Alley Jazz Club in Washington, DC, and after touring Russia, Spain, Mexico and Italy.
