Star of hip hop and the stage, Mos Def will play the Highline Ballroom in a special concert on January 17 at 11:30pm.

This concert is rescheduled from the previously announced December 20 date.  All tickets purchased for that performance will be honored on January 17. Tickets are $45 in advance, $50 at the door.  The concert is presented by Jill Newman Productions.

Regarded as one of hip-hop's most introspective and insightful artists, Mos Def has shaped a career that transcends music genres and artistic medium. With the release of "Universal Magnetic" in 1996 he became an underground favorite, leading to his legendary collaboration with Talib Kweli. The two formed Black Star, whose debut album, Mos Def and Talib Kweli Are...Black Star, would become one of the most critically acclaimed hip-hop albums of all time. Mos followed that release with his 1999 solo debut, Black On Both Sides, which featured the classic tracks "Ms. Fat Booty" and "Umi Says." The album was certified gold and credited by critics as bringing hip-hop back to its soapbox roots. On stage, he has starred in Topdog/Underdog and F***ing A. Film and television credits include House, Cadillac Records, Be Kind Rewind, 16 Blocks, Something the Lord Made, Monster's Ball, and Lackawanna Blues.
