ALAN ZACHARY & MICHAEL WEINER (Songwriters/Screenwriters)
Alan Zachary & Michael Weiner met in high school, and upon discovering their mutual passion for musical theatre, they began to collaborate on theatre, film and animated musical projects. Fast forward to present day, the duo was recently honored to perform a night of their songs alongside Stephen Schwartz and Lynn Ahrens & Stephen Flaherty at Washington, D.C.'s prestigious Kennedy Center as part of their "Broadway Today & Tomorrow" series, celebrating the present and next generation of Broadway songwriters. Currently, they are writing the score for a Broadway musical adaptation of the New Line Cinema film Secondhand Lions with book by famed playwright, novelist and songwriter Rupert Holmes. Simultaneously, they are hard at work on a new romantic musical comedy entitled First Date - a show exploring the contemporary world of dating - which will have its world premiere production in the 5th Avenue Theatre's upcoming 2011-2012 season in Seattle.
As avid songwriters for the Walt Disney Company, Zachary and Weiner were enlisted by Disney Animation Studios to write songs for Disney's top selling DVD release, Cinderella III: A Twist in Time. They also wrote book, music and lyrics for the new Disney stage musical, Twice Charmed: An Original Twist on the Cinderella Story, which premiered on the Disney Cruise Line in May 2005 (cast recording available on Walt Disney Records) and is still going strong. The team has created live stage shows for theme parks spanning the globe, including Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, and their songs have been translated into over 20 languages!
In the world of TV and online media, the team recently sold an animated musical TV series to Fox Television Studios, and they wrote a sitcom pilot for the Disney Channel. They are also creators of The Misadventures of Bob Paparazzo, a comedy animated series for VH1 Online & Mobile. And you may have heard their irreverent theme song for Folgers Coffee entitled "Happy Morning" which was featured in a popular viral marketing campaign that swept the Internet.
Separately, Alan Zachary contributed music and lyrics to DreamWorks Pictures' The Time Machine, and Michael Weiner composed the score for Fine Line Features' Man of the Century as well as the upcoming stage musical, Liberty Smith, which has been seen at NAMT, NYMF and has its world premiere in March 2011 at Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C.For more info, please visit: www.zacharyandweiner.com
