Birdland Jazz Club has announced its December 2014 schedule, featuring Michael Feinstein with Swingin' Big Band, Eliane Elias, Stacey Kent & Marcos Valle, Daniel Reichard, Erich Bergen,Barbara Carroll, "A Swinging Birdland Christmas" with Klea Blackhurst, Jane Monheit, Jim Caruso & Billy Stritch, and more!

Julie & Julie: Then & Now Starring Julie Halston and Julie Gold

Reunited on stage for the first time in 15 years, Ms. Halston and Ms. Gold will combine comedy and songs about all the major topics: Mothers, Show biz, Love, Death and Facelifts. In other words...life!
Julie Halston is one of New York's busiest actresses. Well-known to theatre audiences, she is currently on Broadway in the critically acclaimed revival of You Can't Take It With You, for which she has received rave reviews. Julie Gold is a New YorkCity-based singer/songwriter best know for her Grammy Award winning song, "From A Distance," as recorded by Bette Midler. Other artists who have recorded "From A Distance" include Nanci Griffith, Donna Summer, Patti LaBelle, Sir Cliff Richard, Raul Malo, Jewel, Elaine Paige, The Byrds, and Judy Collins.

Hosted by award winning songwriter Victoria Shaw, Under The Covers has become a favorite recurring highlight at Birdland, featuring a wide variety of top-selling songwriters and musical acts from across the pop, rock and country worlds, and offering intimate acoustic performances of huge hit songs - along with the little-known stories behind them. This event is part of the Broadway at Birdland concert series. Victoria's very special guests will be Ramin Karimloo, the Tony-nominated Jean Valjean in the current Broadway production of Les Miserables, and platinum selling recording artist Chely Wright.

Musical Revue Returns to Broadway at Birdland

The Broadway at Birdland concert series is proud to announce the return of 11 O'Clock Numbers at 7 O'Clock.
The critically acclaimed musical revue that ran at Feinstein's at the Regency for an unprecedented 8 months, then performed two sold-out shows at Birdland, returns to Birdland with its original cast reunited on
December 8 at 7pm.

To celebrate his 50th career anniversary as a Songwriter, Arranger, Instrumentalist, and Singer, Brazilian artist Marcos Valle, joined American singer Stacey Kent's sweet beautiful voice to express a repertoire of half a century of successes.This reunion of these two artists has resulted in a CD titled "MARCOS VALLE & STACEY KENT LIVE", which is being released by Sony, in USA, Canada, Europe, and Asia, in November 2014.

This unique collaboration comes to Birdland Dec. 9-13 to present this incredible music accompanied by Marcos on piano and the Brazilian band of Jesse Sadoc on trumpet and flugelhorn, Marcelo Martins on sax and flute, Alberto Continentino acoustic bass, and Renato Massa on drums. The performance also includes the special participation of Jim Tomlinson, Stacey's long-time musical partner, husband, and Producer of all of her recordings.

Daniel Reichard's Decked Out Holiday Party!
With Special Guest Elad Kabilio

The Broadway at Birdland concert series is happy to announce that Broadway and concert hall star, Daniel Reichard, will perform his solo holiday show for two days at Birdland in New York City. Backed by a seven-piece band of first-class musicians, Reichard will present favorite songs from past Christmas shows, and will introduce new material. Nostalgic and sacred Christmas standards, Hanukkah classics, and non-holiday songs alike will be sung. NY1's Roma Torre has described previous editions as "an instant rush of holiday spirit. Reichard reclaims the pure magic of Christmas." This year, you are his guest at a joyous, seasonal celebration. Festive, dressy, or decked out attire is suggested.

Jay Leonhart Duo

Combining the skills of an old school entertainer and virtuoso jazz man, bassist, vocalist and composer Jay Leonhart has been a fixture of the New York scene for over forty years.

Between 1975 and 1995 he was named The Most Valuable Bassist in the recording industry three times by the National Association of Recording Arts and Sciences. Jay has now recorded 15 solo albums. His first one-man show "The Bass Lesson" is being received warmly by critics and audiences. Jay's next show "Nukular Tulips" is in the works.

Birdland is proud to announce the fifth year of "A Swinging Birdland Christmas," starring Birdland regulars Klea Blackhurst, Jim Caruso and Billy Stritch. In the tradition of beloved seasonal specials, Blackhurst, Caruso and Stritch will perform swinging arrangements of "Christmas Waltz," Kay Thompson's "Holiday Season," "Sleigh Ride," and "I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm" among other favorites. The singers will be joined by Steve Doyle on bass and Daniel Glass on drums.

In just over fifteen years, critically acclaimed jazz vocalist Jane Monheit's honey-smooth vocals, silky phrasing and natural knack for storytelling have earned her two Grammy nominations and established her as one of her generation's most beloved and accomplished vocalists. Jane's sincere and romantic interpretations of exceptional songs has made her a favorite in both the jazz and cabaret worlds. The series will provide Jane the opportunity to develop new material at Birdland and collaborate with invited musical guests, in a relaxed environment that is part concert, part jam session, part workshop and all fun.

Erich Bergen: An Early New Year's Party

Erich Bergen, best known for his performance as Bob Gaudio in the Clint Eastwood film "Jersey Boys," and the current hit CBS drama "Madam Secretary," will bring his dry wit and smooth vocals to the Birdland stage, featuring songs from his stage and screen career, and material from his two EP releases; his self titled debut, and the recent "Never Give Up."

Arturo O'Farrill Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra

Grammy Award winning pianist, composer and educator Arturo O'Farrill -- leader of the "first family of Afro-Cuban Jazz" (NY Times) -- was born in Mexico and grew up in New York City. Son of the late, great composer Chico O'Farrill, Arturo was Educated at Manhattan School of Music, Brooklyn College Conservatory and the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. He played piano in Carla Bley's Big Band from 1979 through 1983 and earned a reputation as a soloist in groups led by Dizzy Gillespie, Steve Turre, Freddy Cole, Lester Bowie, Wynton Marsalis and Harry Belafonte.

Jim Caruso's Cast Party

Jim Caruso's Cast Party is a wildly popular weekly soiree that brings a sprinkling of Broadway glitz and urbane wit to the legendary Birdland in New York City every Monday night. Showbiz superstars, backed by Steve Doyle on bass, Billy Stritch on piano and Daniel Glass on drums, hit the stage alongside up-and-comers, serving up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle.
