Melba Moore Guests in 'Just a Piano' Series at the Triad 6/1

3-Time Grammy Nominee and Tony Award Winner Melba Moore is featured in Lee Summers' Just a Piano Concert Series, Monday, June 1st at 9:30pm at The Triad Theatre. Ms. Moore recently appeared at the Triad in Still Standing. Her Just A Piano concert will feature standards, pop, R&B and Broadway.

Ms. Moore began her career in the ground breaking musical Hair. Her credits include The Melba Moore / Clifton Davis Show, the mini-series Ellis Island, as well as R & B and pop hits "This Is It," "You Stepped Into My Life," and her Grammy nominated signature song, "Lean On Me."

Ms. Moore's show-stopping performance in Purlie, won Melba the Tony Award for Best Supporting Actress In A Musical; her 1990 recording of "Lift Every Voice and Sing," was instrumental in having the song entered into the Congressional Record as the official African American National Anthem. In

1996 Melba took over the role of Fantine in the Broadway musical Les Miserables.
Lee Summers' Just A Piano Concert Series has presented numerous top artists such as Broadway/TV's, Roz Ryan, Tony Award Winner Lillias White, Tony Award Winner Adriane Lenox, recording sensation Alyson Williams ("Just Call My Name"), Marva Hicks (Caroline or Change), Julie Reiber (Wicked), Crystal Mone Hall (Rent), Shoshana Bean (Hairspray, Wicked), Kevin-Anthony, co-founder of Black2 Broadway, Shirley Verrett's vocal protégé, Erika Banks, The Little Mermaid's, Zakiya Young Mizen (Featuring Norm Lewis) - The Series' Creator Lee Summers (Original Dreamgirls), Drowsy Chaperone's Kecia Lewis Evans with guest, Tony Award Winner LaChanze on June 1st and 5th, Rebecca Covington with guests, Norm Lewis, Tituss Burgess and Chester Gregory on June 15th, Tituss Burgess - July 12th at 9:00pm, Tony Award Winner Lillias White returns Mondays in September.

Just A Piano SM Concert Series featured pianists include, Timothy Graphenreed (The Wiz), Brian Whitted (Bette Midler), James Samplina, Onaje Allan Gumbs, Shelton Becton and many more.
